Ross Munajj says:

The problem with this documentary is that it is narrated by people who have an emotional attachment to this history. Because of this emotional attachment, it is narrated inaccurately and therefore the story of this incredible event in history is not given a complete and just depiction. In this narration, Toussaint Louverture is talked about as a person who was a fool who was so eager to appease the French, that he allowed himself to be captured, sent to France where he died in prison and Dessalines being elevated as a true and most admired hero of the Haitian revolution. In addition, this event is narrated as being just about a bunch of former slaves that revolted and defeated the most powerful armies from Europe (Spain, France, and Europe) with Knives and sticks fighting a guerrilla war . Unless you are able to narrate this event from an unbiased point of view, the truth and the genius of men like Toussaint Louveture, who secured modern weapons from Spain, trained former slaves into an effective fighting force, played one European power against the others to achieve victory after victory will be downplayed and the senseless barbaric actions of Dessalines, who lead the revolution to its final victory but also set Haiti on the path to its ultimate demise is missed. Had Toussaint Louveture lived to see the final victory, the history of Haiti after the revolution would be different.

Mike Green says:

This history lesson is beautiful there's nothing worse after mass genocide like concentration camps after that there's nothing worse than slavery it's inhumane brutal gutless I just wish historians would speak more or make more documentaries on the Native Indians in all these Caribbean Islands who we're enslaved as well by the Spaniards people think the british in America or modern day American's were bad but atleast the American's didn't enslave the Native Americans in America but the Native indians in the carribean and latin America we're enslaved with the African slaves and like the documentary says even though most about 70% of the Indian population died off from European disease especially in the Caribbean alot of people still have Native Indian blood in them hence the nick name the west Indies the only reason why Mexicans central American's and south Americans look alot more Indian is because there countries we're alot bigger with way more people so they survived disease and slavery I think that's the reason why Latinos and Blacks get along because we all come from slavery so our roots bring us together
