This video is done to illuminate the other, lesser spoken about slavery in America, and to give credit to a true humanitarian Marcus Mosiah Garvey who was a black leader of the UNIA (Universal Negro Improvement Association) and African Communities League.

Here is some transcript from the video:

White on black racism, and the black civil rights movement is not the only racist time of the US history.
There is a lesser known, but equally as tragic part of American history. Which is white slavery.
For millions of Irish, Scottish and Welsh immigrants who were being oppressed and enslaved by england. They ventured to the promise land to seek refuge from their oppressers in their motherlands.

When they got to the US, a similar group of oppressors held these already oppressed and broken people under their thumbs in the Americas as well.
These immigrants worked as endentured servants, or were not allowed to work at all.
There were times in American history where black slaves had more freedom than these white slaves.

During a Marcus Garvey parade in the 1920’s, an Irish woman is quoted as saying. “And to think, that the negro will receive their liberty before the Irish”.

These Celtic people were oppressed and enslaved for well over 2 centuries.

So when people think of slavery, and current policies like Affirmative Action.
Lets not forget that the negro race was not the only race of people, brutally oppressed and enslaved.

Marcus Garvey was quite a genius in his approach to racial diversity.
Garvey sent letters of support to the Irish Republican Army (IRA), and also met with and invited leaders of the Klu Klux Klan to speak at his rallies.
Marcus Garvey believed in true racial diversity, unlike what we have today where only non-white races are allowed to have racial pride.

Marcus is a true humanitarian and someone that all of those who truly believe in racial diversity can respect and learn from.

Fæ Tælor says:

Heard that Bob Marley was racist towards white people, if he is… good.

Dantorrie Herring says:

So what you are saying is… Africans are all one people but the English and Irish are separate? What part of the English sold the Irish aren't you getting? That may friend is 100% whites selling whites….

GSELife4 says:

Some of the slave owners were African too both in America and Africa itself.

Natsukashii Atsume says:

"For some reason we think we’re free/ So we will never be, because we haven’t recognized slavery./ You’re still a slave, look at how you behave/Debating on where and when and how and what Massa gave."

GSELife4 says:

Only now do they claim Irish people are not a different race. Back then it was different.

W. G. says:

all people were enslaved by romans, even the early anglo saxons!

W. G. says:

You're thinking of scot-irish, not real irish. aside from slavery and the odd poor immigrant there wasn't many irish in america till after and during the civil war.
irish surnames comes from intermarriage

W. G. says:

Irish were also lynched in many "anti-catholic riots", slaves sent to america and west indies by the english and sent to iceland by the norse, and had no civil rights in there own country for a long while.maybe some far Americanized irishmen are racist towards your people, but speaking for myself most of us are your allies and most of the irish slaves sent over are now african american themselves. mulatto was added to the cenus because of how many afircans and irish were married.

Clovis Tribe says:

@truthhitmanisback Systems of servitude and slavery were common in many parts of Africa, as they were in much of the ancient world. In some African societies, the enslaved people were also indentured servants and fully integrated. When the Atlantic slave trade began, many local slave systems changed and began supplying captives for slave markets outside of Africa.

Clovis Tribe says:

@truthhitmanisback I don't care about your hatred, or your agenda. You are implying Im trying to excuse slavery? I hate slavery, my people were enslaved too! But it doesn't excuse the black slave owners in Africa either.

xxhiyo25263 says:

what's the name of this song??

Reverend Ryan says:

@illthug98 Yes, there were slaves and indentured servants from Ireland, Scotland and Wales for the better part of 2 centuries in the USA
