A timely discussion about the basic and complex misunderstandings of reparations, pan-Africanism, capitalism, and how the new ADOS movement fits along the spectrum.

Todd Maek says:

HOiLD UP PAUSE PAUSE PAUSE PAUSE, bruh I hear you and sister I hear you too.  but brotha just lied.   Nah bruh the reason why you got attacked IS NOT because of some kind of philosophical difference, it is literally because you have been throwing shade at the movement seemingly in favor of a more pan Africanist approach to reparations  THATS WHY. Cant sit up here and let you just say that shyt and then ride off like that, especially since you and other panafricanist but YOU in particular have been sending darts at Yvettes way.  I think I found MR balls channel through Yvettes channel when she had you on as a guest a grip ago when yall were talking about the myth of spending power, but what is really troubling to me is since Yvette and Tone have gotten the topic into the national discourse for THIS generation, it seems most or ALL of the detractors so far have been black person after black person after black person after black person after black person (let me catch my breath…….ok) after black person after black person… From Foreign born blacks, to immigrant descendant blacks etc it seems ALLL of the SALT in the game is comin from black folk,(AND THE DNC).    I find it EXTREMEMLY ODD that Ncobra nem AINT NOBODY HEARD FROM THEM IN I DONT KNOW HOW LONG aaaaaaaand alllllll of a sudden they are all on the scene n shyt and everybody back to talking about the revolutionary traditions of whoever.  Aight my bad I went on a rant I disagree with the seeming panafricanist centered hamstringing of the ADOS movement but I still listen to hear what intelligent black folks are talking about.

Jesus Price says:

#ADOS is only about the check? LIES!

Recca Cope says:

There are so many points I disagree with regarding this video

1. ADOS is not disorganized their is a website stating their policy goals and what they want

2. Black people are fighting I’m 26 and I’ve seen more unity amongst our community then ever before because now we are finally getting on code

3. Pan Africanism is nice in theory but it isn’t really producing tangible benefits for the black community today ADOS is putting the discussion of black empowerment/ what we are owed in this country in a way that has never been on the table before at least I can say in my life time

4. ADOS and the new black media are organized and are reaching the new generation unlike the boomers who stay talking

5. I feel like pan Africans have been exposed since ADOS has come around because they talk a good game but hasn’t produced tangibles as our community continues to degenerate they want to talk about unity across the diaspora charity starts at home first.

6. You want to make this a class struggle it’s not it’s a race struggle with blacks at the bottom capitalism is the system of this country and we will use it to benefit our group the same way others have we aren’t playing anymore #tangibles #ados

Anthony J. Sloan says:

Phase 4: The agreived group accurately names themselves as ADOS ( North American Descendants of Chattle Slavery).
This catapults #ADOS as the current tip of the Spear in our continued movement toward ultimate Liberation.

Update: We want the Money, Money, Money and we'll buy the land where we want and buy the technology work the land or whatever.

kimberly richardson says:

This is anything but clarification on ADOS. I am disappointed that as scholars, you didn't take the time to go the ADOS101.com before doing an interview saying ADOS doesn't have an agenda and only want a check. On the site, you will find A COMPLETE agenda. This interview is dishonest and self-serving.

D_Michelle says:

I think your missing the point entirely. Instead of trying to debunk the ADOS leaders, you really should be talking directly to Black folx. How would you address the fears of Black Americans that are attracted to their movement with the alternative Pan-Africanist perspective? We need direct action. How does your solution of universal redistribution of wealth address the incredible loss of wealth that Black Americans have experienced since 2008? We'll be at zero wealth accumulation by 2050. How does the Pan-Africanist perspective address the Flint water crisis and the poisoning of hundreds to thousands of its children. What are your solutions to the Gullah land grab? How will you change the fact that only 7 Black students were admitted to.NYC's elite public high schools. How would you change all of this?

When I listened to this dialogue, i felt resentment. I resent the implication that I dont have the right to demand reparations for my ancestors' denial of wealth. I have to look out for everyone else too? How does that help Black American children and families overcome their unique state of generational impoverishment?

This whole conversation was an exercise in talking at me, not to me. This is why the ADOS leaders have the ears of increasing numbers of Black folx. Sure they're xenophobic, but if Pan-Africanists are not presenting a viable alternate narrative, you're going to lose the debate.
Stop being too good to be on Twitter. If you want to reach the people you'll need to go where they are. They're not going to come to you. Go on Twitter and use the ADOS hashtag to tweet you POV. Convince them that there is a better way. Aknowledge their feelings about immigration and their diminishing stand in this country, even while you are correcting them.

Felicia Gray says:

so what it's incalculable??? the redress must start and there are many ways, that have been laid out (check Darity, Yvette, Antonio) to give reparations to black america, not just MONEY. That's what you PA's reduce reparations to, not ADOS.

SleepyCCS says:

Pan Africanism/Internationalism sold out Native Black Americans decades ago.
You guys ONLY care about Black people outside of the USA and USA foreign policy.
You don't care about how domestic policy is grinding Native Black Americans into dust. ADOS101.com

SleepyCCS says:

Jared Ball is being very dishonest and ignoring the fact that low income Native Black American Men are disproportionately harmed by illegal immigration.
Liberals say immigration enforcement is racist, but the group most likely to benefit from it is black men

Thanks again Dr Ball

Lisa Webb says:

Thank you for the clarification on this subject. Other youtubers are very harden with being one sided on this ADOS discussion with mainly focusing on the monetary return. I appreciate the honesty and how the pan african aspect is very much needed for the support of reparations.

Carla D. says:

Just said he wasn't going "kumbayah" and then proceeds to go FULL Kumbayah! Smh… IDIOT! This is not about enemies or allies. Reparations is to cure a debt. Period. Black people believe it's a fucking abomination to look out for themselves and their progeny when EVERYONE ELSE in the entire world does! If you have a "gives me grab" to include a race of people whose families were ALREADY given provisions generations ago and this fool is talking about "sharing" AGAIN!!! Does he understand that if you take away from 1 and then give back to BOTH that you end up back where you started – BEHIND!!!! Sometimes I think Black people are their own worst enemy. If other races of people don't feel Blacks deserve to be made whole unless THEY get some too, why feel the need to be charitable towards them? Hell, those are OUR tax dollars too! I'd rather receive nothing than less than what I deserve. Fuck 'em!

LaToya says:

A lot of the ADOS discussion with immigration is on immigration as a whole and how the US policy on immigration needs to change. The majority of discussion is had about LEGAL (black) immigrants and the affect they have on ADOS people, as it dilutes black people in America. We do not talk about how undocumented immigrants take our jobs. Do your research.
