noticed how most of the contributors are black?
i've read a lot about garvey, and this documentary seems very factually accurate to me.

Jon Goodwin says:

now nat geo want to say "white" lightskinned ppl are a mutation of nature but they still won't let us come together with their discriminating commentaries of the "black man" big up prophet Marcus Garvey may there be many more Garvey's to agitate the guvment

Angela House says:

because we didnt they were so scared because they didnt want us to ever know anything they wanted us to remain ignorant but We serve a almight God that want allow us to be. They wanted and want to be in control they know nothing about love because if they did they would know that we are equal and God is in control!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thursday April 12th,Topic-is FAMILY Feud, of the Daily Gleaner.Imagine they are family, that is what matters, i dont want to say any thing yet until you read the article. It is a disgrace!!!!! Try your best and get it,and you will see what i am talking about.

L. M. Yoseph says:

Yes, please send me the link because I cant find the story. But this situation is typical when there is a lack of real leadership. When you have a situation where you have too many chiefs and not enough warriors, infighting and confusion is bound to come. But when leaders step up and give the people a vision that they can understand and hold on to, they will fight the battles worth fighting for. This is why Garvey was so important. He told the people to fight for freedom, fight for Africa!

lolly1787 says:

Did you read the Gleaner today? The front page, fighting over lands by our same black people. This one is a typical example i am talking about.I would like you to read it to sum up a senerio for your self. There are othersthat i could talk about, but this space is much too minute.Bob Marley said he would love to see the unification of all Africans, that is yet, another big dream.Any way please read the article, and tell me your intake.Like how you express your self.

L. M. Yoseph says:

Yes it is a huge dream and I'll be the first to admit that. But it is a dream worth fighting for, worth reaching for, worth dying for. Yes, I am prepared to die for the unity and the social, economic, and political progress of Africa and Africans in the Diaspora. One might say you think negatively but to me, you are only going off past experience and history and no one can blame you for that so its cool. As long as we take that negative and turn it into a postive, its irie.

lolly1787 says:

Your statement reminded me of how Marcus Garvey"s own followers treated him.In my opinion they were his worst enemies, heard what the song said, they sold him for rice and peas, you know what that mean? We blacks should be seen as the SUPERIORS,INSTEAD OF FEELING INFERIOR.!! And why is this??????? we well know why,we doubt ourselves.

lolly1787 says:

We always say come together/unity,we all have big dreams about re-repatriation,the different interests and alliances, cultures,oh my word we as black people are so flexible, brilliant, yet we are not going any where for ages now.We talk the talk,we are not walking the walk,if you know what i mean.I love your strong arguments, but my dear, this togetherness/unity,is indeed a huge dream, help me to make a wish that this will come through one day.Am i thinking negatively?See you love black history!!!!!!

L. M. Yoseph says:

And if these countries link together to form a Pan-African organization with Pan-African agendas, we will truly began to see change in our circumstances. And this link will be because of our heritage and history, not religion, or democracy, or anything else. And it is that fact that will keep us together. Because we cannot change who we are (Africans) and whether one is in the Homeland or in the Diaspora, we are all brothers and sisters in the African family.

L. M. Yoseph says:

Indeed. But keep in mind that CARICOM is unified but the unity is not based on African-centeredness and Pan-Africanism. Therefore, when cultures and peoples that are very much different and that have different interests and alliances to different cultures, then yes, unity will become a long, drawn out process. But if, for instance, the Caribbean Nations who identify themselves as Africans and the Americans who identify themselves as Africans come together then change and progress will come.

lolly1787 says:

Agree with you my darling, but don't you see that institutions such as C.A.R.I.C.O.M.,could not unite for a very long time? How many of us would be willing to take charge in Jamaica out of a million of us as black people.Again ,the Caribbean Court of Justice,we have done every thing to turn this down.Listen we talk repeatedly, and nothing is done.Yes our enemy are the European source, but they stand very, very strong on what they want to do ,and that is to be united.

L. M. Yoseph says:

And I am sure that well over a million of us agree that Africans should have control over there own communities and countries socially, economically, and politically. So, with these three simple concepts, I'm sure that we can easily come together and get things done and change our circumstances. This is why I believe that we will unite. Because these and other principles, along with increasing tension in the world along racial lines, will be the glue that holds us together as a people.

L. M. Yoseph says:

Well, sister, under the right circumstances, I believe with all of my heart that we can unite. Now, of course we will never completely unite on everything. But we can definately unite on a few basic, foundational ideas and concepts. For instance, I'm sure well over a million of us in this country identify themselves as Africans. And I'm sure that well over a million of us agree that we have a common enemy in global European supremacy.

lolly1787 says:

Hello my sweet heart, black people like us will never, ever be united/come together. If you read Marcus Garey's history keenly it tells you how his own that he was looking out for put him to shame and disgrace. No matter what we try to do unification just cant happen.People talking about systems and institutions to be established to help the devious mentality,in my mind it will never be successful. Remember in Michael days,he tried to unite our poor Jamaican people? Could he do it? no,no!!!
