Historian Robin Walker interviewed by Duamu-tef EnAnkh for Gotkushtv at the BABA YOSEF BEN JOCHANNAN Celebration Of Life!

The Alkebu-Lan Revivalist Movement warmly invites Afrika-UK (the Afrikan Nation in the UK) to join us in giving due national honour to renowned Grand Master Teacher and warrior scholar, Baba Dr Yosef ben-Jochannan – who join the Ancestors on, Thursday, 19th March 2015 – aged 96.

Born on 31st December, 1918, in Gondar, Ethiopia, he was the only child of Puerto Rican mother, Julia Matta and Ethiopian father, Kriston ben-Jochannan and hailed from the Beta Israel (black ‘Jewish/Falashas’) people. Raise by Garveyite parents, he attested that in his home, “the name Garvey was next to the deity”.
Popularly known as Dr Ben, he was renowned for his pioneering works on Ancient Khemet (Egypt) in particular and the Hapi (Nile) Valley in general; organising tours to Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan, since the late 1940s. According to Dr Leonard Jefferies, he “gave Egypt back to us,” while leading historian (UK) Robin Walker, hails him as, “our first scholar to deal properly with the Afrikan origin of religion, challenging all religious bigots.

Baba Ben (to ARM), served the Afrikan world for almost eighty years, distinguishing himself as a Supreme War General, in the battle for the minds of Afrikan people, alongside scholastic giants such as John Henrik Clarke, Edward Scobie, John G Jackson, Ivan van Sertima, Chancellor Williams. He also inspired contemporary stalwarts, like Leonard Jefferies, Marimba Ani, James Smalls, Ashra Kwesi, Merira Kwesi, Robin Walker and many more.

He possessed several degrees in cultural anthropology, architectural engineering, history and law, as well as PhDs in Cultural Anthropology and Moorish History and published some 49 books and papers, primarily on Nile Valley history and culture; earning him his most esteemed title: High Priest of the Order of the Mystery System (HP OMS).

This great warrior scholar, was also well known for extoling the natural Divinity, virtues and endowments of the Afrikan woman; championing Afrikan familyhood and male-female relationships; encouraging Afrikan youths; and defending authentic
Afrikan spirituality. Less well known however is that he was a close friend and adviser to Papa, Omowale Malcolm X.

Baba Ben was married to Gertrude M. England and was the father of 18 children. To them was convey our love and deepest condolence, even as we celebrate, the quality and quantity of a life well live in undying Divine service.
May he rise like Ra on the wings of Ma’at, after a favourable judgement in the council of Asar: Ashe! Ashe! Ashe-oo! AmeRa! It is done.

I am open to the idea that Egypt had a significant Eurasian input from it's earliest days. Just the location of Egypt should indicate that it wasn't isolated from middle eastern and Mediterranean contacts. Recent DNA tests are helping to sort out ancient Egypt racially. The Djehutynakht mummy from the middle kingdom has shown Eurasian DNA.
