This is the Livestream from the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit recorded live during the event on August 25, 2018. I am super honored to be on this panel with the brilliant Professor James Small. And thankful to Director Charles Ferrell for the invitation and putting us together. I've edited out the empty space where the 1804 documentary played for the audience

OK 2:00 im going to have to protest that statement: Most maroon communities the The Caribbean Basin = are also very African in their ways. some still can communicate in ancient African language like Suriname, French Guiana & many others also kept the scripts. Island example: Dominica has solidly Africa vibration from music to food. Christopher Columbus will also recognized it today. there are many other land that are on par with Haiti.
