Its hard to predict whether Dick Gregory will be most celebrated as a path-breaking comedian or a trailblazing civil rights activist. Its impossible to imagine the history of either movement without him—or without his unique blending of the two. In the early 1960s, he became one of the first black comedians to perform before integrated audiences. In 1967, he ran for mayor of Chicago against Richard J. Daley, and a year later for president as the Freedom and Peace Party candidate. The author of and contributor to many politically charged books, Gregory is still a staunch, wry political voice across a range of issues as varied as nutrition, social justice, and the environment. Chicago Sun-Times columnist Laura Washington interviews the provocative and always unpredictable Gregory.

If you can afford Organic food, please use them, I do too. But having able to choose what you eat is a luxury most humans do now have.

He loses all credibility with any intelligent, informed, educated person, especially as it relates to economics, history, and world politics. Obama gets an A+??!! Really???!! This is about race bating and content that divides folks. History will remember Obama as a cataclysmic failure. The only president that had been called weak and impotent by almost every world leader. It isn't "white folks" that set the country on fire it's the neo liberals ( who happen to be mostly white). It's the Democrats with an agenda to reshape the socio economic landscape. Then this president had done far worse than anything Nixon had done. Scandal after scandal, but critique like this has been labeled as racism. So if you can't beat for opponent, label then racist. Sad commentary by this man.
This video is dated Jan 2010, after roughly one year of Obama's presidency. I wonder what Gregory would say now, after six years of bumbling ineptitude on both foreign and domestic issues?
Gregory is entertaining and insightful, but it's reckless that he insists on using the phrase "white folks" when he clearly means "rich folks." For example, 15:24. He always has to qualify his use of the term "white folks" in these talks so the poor and middle-class white people in the audience don't think he's talking about THEM. Many impressionable people who regard Gregory as an authority figure will skip the details or hear the words out of context and think he's talking about ALL white folks. Potentially, those people could misuse Gregory's words to justify their own paranoia, prejudice and dislike of the white folks who, like themselves, are also getting screwed over by the rich & powerful.
