The statement that Malcolm became, what he became was due to the nation is false!!! His family were Garvyites. Malcolm's Mother was a teacher. It always hits me emotionally when Malcolm X is discussed. Add to it his great work. There is such a huge connection there. I was 19 I think when I read his autobiography and it shook me up. This was like early 90's. The truly sad thing is my parents, their parents weren't even in the space of radical change, true freedom and real revolution. It really causes me much emotional toil when realizing the total and complete destruction of the psyche of African descendent black folks in America and the world over. And sadly it is the same in Africa.
With ALL DUE RESPECT Dr. Clarke baffles me how he makes it seem as if Malcolm became the man he did in a vacuum when it was under Elijah Muhammad that he became the man that the world would know. Elijah Muhammad introduced Malcolm to the person that would be a source of ultimate strength and power, that is Allah or God. This changed Malcolm and it began the process of development that would last the duration of his life. My point is we cant honor Malcolm with out giving Elijah Muhammad equal or elevated praise

Dr. Clarke was a kind and honest man. I do not agree with all his findings but recommend him to everyone.
