The Last Poets perform one of their most acclaimed and popular pieces 'Niggers are Scared of Revolution' live at Band on the Wall on Tuesday 21st July 2015. The piece, delivered by Umar Bin Hassan, remains relevant today, as the debate continues over the reappropriation of disparaging terms and language in our society. Umar discusses his opinions on this matter prior to delivering the piece.
Presented by Apples and Snakes as part of the Last Poets: Speak Up Newcomer tour; the current line-up of Umar Bin Hassan, Abiodun Oyewole and drummer Don Babatunde Eaton played an astonishing set at Band on the Wall on Tuesday 21st July.

I grew up listening to the Last Poets, and I love their spoken work. I credit them and Gil Scott with being the masters of this craft. I love the message of this song But I hate the word … . the beginning dialogue by whoever that is is the the white shirt causes the message to be lost . In fact this entire remake of the word is done out of context. and slapstickis.
