African-American scholar Clarence Walker refers to Afrocentrism as "therapeutic mythology," asserted as a way to promote the self-esteem of African Americans by "creating a past that never was." Afrocentrism, according to Walker, is factually errant and theoretically flawed. By urging black Americans to seek empowerment in a misconstructed Egyptian or Olmec history, Afrocentrists not only mislead, but they also open their students to ridicule.

A New York Times book review described Ivan Van Sertima's "Golden Age of the Moors" as a "deluded 'scholar' promoting ignorant rubbish whose knowledge of historical techniques is abysmal." When the liberal Times describes a black African scholar like that, you KNOW something is wrong. Readers, esp. blacks, should realize that all serious scholars dismiss Van Sertima as "fallacious," "without foundation," and "badly argued work based on fantasies." Afrocentrism can't replace real progress.
Our problem has ALWAYS been that we've been hospitable to people who've ALWAYS meant us harm to begin with..
ALL who've invaded Afrika thru the centuries have done more harm than good! They ALL declared war on Afrikan culture, civilization, spirituality ways of life. They began to bastardize Afrika. And thru colonialization, barbarism/slavery, confuse & create a schizophrenia within its people & descendants about their own historiography.
The movie "Changing Lanes" starring Samuel L. Jackson & Ben Affleck is a PERFECT example of how white folks are by nature. Every now & then, Affleck's character would get a little convicted over the stuff he'd done to samuel jackson's character, and jackson's character kept trying to do "the right thing", but BOTH were only doing what came "natural" to them.
But that's just like us, we'll keep trying to do right by them, DESPITE their treatment of us..
Truth is identifying the FACTS & the TRUTH of the matter is this: if U have a people, who've done the SAME THING to everyone they've EVER encountered on EVERY continent, in EVERY time zone, down the wheels of time, that TELLS U they CANNOT change!!
