I moved to Tulsa in '05, after living there a couple of years I saw a marker about "BWS", still was a bit confused as to what it was saying, and at the time I didnt investigate any further about the subject! Couple more years past, and Im leading a paranormal group in downtown Tulsa, when the finance mgr. for the Tulsa Shock contacts me to ask if I would come and investigate the BOK center, which by this time was around a year and half after it opened in '08. He ask me if I knew about a burial site under the building, told him no, but I would look into it!!
To make a long story short; my research took me down the very dark history of Tulsa, OK.!! First the government moved natives that were in Tulsa north to make room for the new natives from the trail of tears to live in Tulsa, they lived in that land about 60 yrs. before the first whites showed up in 1890. The burial site that was established by the natives was used by the white settlers for around a decade, before the white settlers decide they needed the land where the burial site is, they moved all the white settlers graves to other locations, and left the rest.
The real irony to the story is that the descendants of the so called "race riot" who dont have a burial site for their loved ones who died during that time, because they dont possess the remains of their bodies.
These same people can not only not visit the burial site of their ancestors from the so called riot of '21, they cant honor their fore ancestors because the white settlers have a stadium on their original burial site now!!
And the reason why there was a "black wall street" is because the white man wouldnt do business with them!
