There is a fine line between building a customer base and being asked to give things away for free. Also, don’t compare major businesses to local businesses. Of course I won’t negotiate with KFC like I would a business next door, but it isn’t race related.

Costs $30.00 …return 10 times in getting a Caterting job. But I agree overall. You must be smart and strategic. And charge the right price as well. Blacks need to learn how to build business and charge right.

Sometimes Dr. Boyce makes phantom arguments just so he can come up with a solution, sort of like the arsonist who wants to be the hero by putting out the fire. Maybe it is just I, but I do not know Black people who expect Black businesses to give their product away free.
This is EXACTLY the problem with black people. They cant WAIT to hand their money over to everyone esle EXCEPT THEMSELVES. Thats the problem right there.
For those of you who are anti-black businesses, the next Trayvon martin Sandra Bland happens, the time a philandro Castile is shot, the next time a cop pulls a black person over for no reason, if you or your family member is a victim of WS, the next time you see a predominately black school suffers from lack of funding, the next time black unemployment is twice the National average, the next time trump insults blacks as a whole, the next time a white man assaults any black persons please do NOT complain. ALL of those are manifestations of the WS ideology in this country. Just like your automatic panning of black businesses is.

This is exactly why I think that the Buy Black Movement is such a terrible idea. This is also why I think that calling yourself a "Black Owned" business is also a terrible idea. Calling yourself a "Black Owned" business is really nothing more than giving black people in the community an entitlement card to come and use against you.
The first thing that black people looking to run a business need to understand is that black people WILL NOT support you! They will make every excuse imaginable just like the one in this video (gimme your goods and services for free, do me favors, give it to me wholesale instead of retail, etc) to stop your business from moving forward on their dime.
Too many black people hate this. They become extremely jealous of any black person succeeding at anything in spite of them. And it drives them nuts to see you succeed from THEIR hard earned dollars. Even if they made a legitimate purchase from your company. To them, Its the dagger in the heart of their misery.
Your success is the equivalent of them "eating their heart" out. This is why I will NEVER position myself as a "Black Owned" business. Instead, I will position myself as a good quality business period. Being black is already a strike against me when it comes to being a business owner.
Therefore it stands to reason that we need an effective counter strategy for nurturing and growing a business as a black man. And telling people that your business is "Black Owned" will not help with that strategy. It will only hinder it. I'm just saying… #perrylduff
