Hot off the heels of Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel’s Black Panther just came out on digital download. I thought the character has a lot of potential, but to me this movie had one core problem which prevented it from reaching the level of quality it possibly could have… a problem I like to call the Superman dilemma.

I’ll try to make more videos over the summer for you guys. Definitely about upcoming releases like Deadpool and Solo: A Star Wars Story. You can also tell me any ideas you’d want me to cover.

Dr. A.I. Kryptanical says:

Slight correction the fact that vibranium is able to store and redirect kinetic energy has been a thing long before the movie existed, I don't think the suit being invincible is the issue I think it the execution of the scene that he's fighter so of course he's got killmonger as his big boss, unlike Sam Raimi's spiderman 3 that had no need for more than one villain,

like superman black panther is almost invincible and has many allies as such he should have multiple powerful foes from the comics in the movie as in a scenario where a war is happening if he seems invincible rather than have him fight 20-40 weaker foes (who arent even permanent bad guys they are just misguided a little)

Instead give him and his allies some strong foes in both the comics and cartoons Klaw always comes back even from death be it ultron or somehow turning into the embodiment of vibration!

and theres many other villains that could of joined killmonger: Ghost(which for some reason was chosen for ant-man and the wasp), Kraven though often show in spidey comics was also in the black panther in some iterations getting his strength and keen animal instincts from the same medicine that gives panther his abilities, even Black Widow has on occasion fought black panther!

As they say "theres more than one way to cook an egg" in the cartoon series they managed to utilise his armour while at the same time managing to feel like there was a risk in the case of black panther and superman it's often the risk of harm to others but unlike superman when panther is in that armour it is like he has no kryptonite the cartoon series was just better at devising weaknesses and villains that could actually match him!

e.g atlanteans have superhuman strength beyond what that Wakandan herb boosts humans too, but for some reason the atlanteans of the marvel comics are no where to be seen in the MCU there was only a slight mention of Atlantis from Okoye in End Game

who knows maybe with a possible Fantastic Four (finally done in the mcu by marvel) and the beginning of the new phase with spidey far from home we'll see a submariner or something of the kind in a future foundation sort of phase although on my part that is speculation from the rumours that i've heard.

If he was facing atlanteans (yes political stakes again) he would be at risk as both his city and theirs are advanced but it also means that their weapons are made advanced enough in one iteration the only thing atlanteans where weak to in the early days was vibranium so when this was discovered by a brother and sister they decided to found a village upon it and the brother became the 1st black panther

the sister became corrupted by a red crystal found in the same place tried to kill atlanteans which the 1st panther was trying to make peace with after fighting so much and in the end she was imprisoned inside the crystal when he stopped her….

so the Atlanteans(Marvel not DC) and Wakandan's have a long history and the arc i'd seen in the cartoon series of the war and history between them was one of the best arcs i'd seen in a comic book cartoon series since the 1990's spidey series even better than most movies, black panther almost dies at the end to save an atlantean and that choice ended the atlanteans war on Wakanda as many lives had been lost(for reference this happens after new avengers and there was no namor in this series either mainly cause at the time fox still owned him but instead they used Attuma and his daughter though rather than a bad attuma it was a benevolent king just with a short temper)

Claudia Cabezas says:

Well yes, but actually no

Leo Orduna says:

Love the thumbnail.

Tobias .C. says:

am i the only one that thinks all the dislikes are just because he is criticizing the film ?

ST3FF3 says:

bruh wait till you see one punch man

Rajan Limbu says:

I didn't like it at all….

Devon Linden says:

Idea: Suit is the same, but the kinetic burst thing either temporarily disables or slowly damages the suit, so continuous use will eventually render the suit useless, as well as the suit always needing repair after use, resulting in situations where the suit is unavailable.

Nicholas Zhang says:

Iron man is epic.

Gerald The Octopus says:

10:53

You don't have to make the suit be taken away, you can put an emphasis on the fact that his suit has no jet booster feet, or webs to swing from, make him not able to get to his target, he fails, you can make the movie on him redeeming himself, you don't have to make his death be his weakness, but maybe you can bring out another weakness in his suit

Matt S says:

It's not the best movie in the MCU despite what the reviews say. It's a solid 80 but no 90+. The only reason it got a bump is due to all to SJW hype Disney was able to drum up just like it did with Captain Marvel. My prediction is all the luster will dry up on the sequels and its meh-ness will be laid bare. OP heroes hardly ever fare well, especially whenever you tried to plug them into a team.

public loiterer boi says:

Black panthers suit can be over powered and cause it to explode from to much potential energy, his suit does not make him invincible. Also you forget he almost died twice. Superman is an alien that is genetically invincible, and can only be killed with kryptonite or a blue sun, black panther is a human with enhanced abilities.

Nick Carlson says:

Filmento didn’t like the movie. Filmento racist

A9DM says:

ahem captain marvel ahem

cookie captain says:

Does anyone else like red skull or is it just me

Mark Nutt says:

So, uh, the suit can only absorb so much kinetic energy. We see with the grenade launcher and the rhino that overwhelms him. Also, as we saw in Civil War, Natasha was able to repeatedly stun him despite the suit. Sure he's overpowered against regular goons with regular guns, but that's basically EVERY MCU hero. Also, the magnetic field whatever that disrupts his suit could probably be made into a weapon if a villain discovers that this phenomenon exists, which might be where they go with it. I also disagree that there has to be physical risk for him. What's at risk is the people around him that he cares about (he dives on the grenade to save the people around him), and his standing (he has to fight through the traditional ritual to earn his throne and he has to eliminate claims on the throne from people like Killmonger). Black Panther, as a film, had issues for sure- not a lot of those things were executed very well, but being overpowered is definitely not one. The stakes aren't non existent, just different.

Alexander Roberts says:

The Black Panther suit, while it can take a heavy beating, isn’t indestructible. The suit only absorbs a certain amount of kinetic force from attacks before it fails what it’s designed to do.

chaosXpert says:

Black Panther is just Batman if he was Over Powered and Black

mercurywoodrose says:

here is the obvious problem: how can super tech and invulnerability save africa from racism? how does a cool suit stop racism? was killmonger in fact right? was malcolm x right and king wrong, even if king had had a vibranium suit. same problem with superman. how can he save the world, he is just one man, no matter how powerful.

mercurywoodrose says:

well yes, the superman dilemma is a perfect name for this problem. thanks for this video, it needs to be said. i would love to see supes next movie take him to the 1930s, and give him his original power set, much less than today. he was more like spiderman then.

Jonathan Dubinsky says:

i like this, also he does have a lot of power with the flower thing and is brought down to normal levels for the sake of fairness so it has stakes but he could have said no and just kept ruling

Fone Distractin says:

They could kill the queen

Osian Coleman says:

I agree a bit about the suit but I don’t about Kilmonger, he was great.

Marco M. says:

How to fix black panther? Make him Jamaican and the sequel should be a reggae musical. The end.

Fixed Focus Charlie says:

So, here's where you all have been hiding! I was wondering…

maurice wright says:

Basically you're saying that black panther lacks character which I agree with but hes actually more like Thor who is also super overpowered and can barely be hurt even when hes fighting the hulk but they fixed his character by giving him a great Arc. That comes to a head in thor ragnorak, so hopefully they give BP more nuance as well in the future

maurice wright says:

Be serious when have u ever been fearful that a main character was facing death, ppl have guns put in their face all the time nobody flinches thinking they're going to get shot in the head, u only think about how cleverly he will disarm the person, u never worry about their safety tho. That's what made Tony stark's sacrifice so meaningful and memorable. Just like nobody thought they would actually kill off half the MCU with the snap, it was just a matter of how cool will it be when they bring everyone back

StarKiller AKA Galen Marek AKA The Apprentice says:

“…who has a very original villainous habit to cut himself after every kill…”
Victor Zsasz: hey! That’s my thing!

GibberMuzagi says:

The suit is too perfect, but it is comic book accurate, which is far more important to those making the films and the majority of comic fans.

Strider Barnes says:

im not emotionally invested in captain america civil war because his shield is too op. who cares about bucky or the avengers splitting up if captain america doesnt die?
