He was taken into custody. A subsequent gathering of angry local whites outside the courthouse where Rowland was being held, and the spread of rumors he had been lynched, alarmed the local black population, some of whom arrived at the courthouse armed. Shots were fired and twelve people were killed: ten white and two black.[16] As news of these deaths spread throughout the city, mob violence exploded.
They always use the narrative of a black man raped a white woman to justify their white outrage and in those days white men raped black women on regular basis in when they worked as domestic workers or simply getting kidnapped and raped. This isn't what you would call "symbolic." They're literally imitating what happened in the real world. Symbolic would be a little more cryptic than this, in my opinion.

Its just too damn cliche for Hollywood in 2019, combine the avalanche of mystery boxes that the show runner LOVES to throw at the audience, this show will is junk. It does have high production value.
Tell the truth, not politically correct BS, that boy sexually assaulted the girl in the elevator and the black people brought weapons to the jailhouse because they wanted to free him. They started a fight they couldn't finish

I grew up in Tulsa and know the Race Massacres was not in Oklahoma history books or taught in schools. The State refused to pay survivors reparations. If you want information on this go to youtube and watch the many videos interviewing people who were victims, or read Hannibal Johnson's books. This Land's Press "Nightmare of Dreamland" by Lee Roy Chapman is excellent. Thanks to Mr. Bynum for supporting the efforts to find the mass graves. I don't watch HBO since they work with a man that calls himself a Gun for Hire and accuracy is in question. JMO
'I've heard of the Tulsa Race Riots briefly when I was in college. I distinctively remember the part of how they bombed Black Homes from Airplanes. The horror of this massacre was purposely kept out of our History books because Mainstream America doesn't want the truth to be known or pay reparations to descendents of that town. How many of us know the Brutal History of the Trail of Tears? This is why History is so important. This i is why Journalism is so important We are doomed to repeat it. Charlottesville. White Supremacy has always been the Cancer of our country and it has successfully infiltrated the White House. Look who is President now? So, I was excited, as a big Watchmen movie fan not knowing anything about the new series. Turns out, another piece of Woke trash that's all about pushing this agenda that all white people = racist & bad. Written by the great hack of all Damon 'I can't write for s***' Lindelof who told the original creator to go f himself (classy) because he's doing things his 'woke' way. Five minutes into it, not knowing any of this, things were way off to me with the woman carrying the gun and the man carrying the baby, naturally. Twenty minutes into it "My nose can smell this type of white supremacy and it smells like bleach." WHAT THE ACTUAL F***? Okay, this is making a series than demonizes an entire race. ANY show that demonizes an entire race, ANY race, IS the definition of RACISM! Disgusting racist trash, an insult to the fans of the comics and movie. This show claims it's a take on racism, I couldn't agree more. Although, they don't see that's because the writers are the racists perpetrating and keeping the divide between races alive with this woke nightmare. No wonder creator Alan Moore asked to be disassociated with it. RACIST WOKE TRASH. People need to see that 'woke' IS RACIST. It's keeping people and characters divided by race. THAT is what is truly RACIST here. These creators of this woke show are the real racists.
