Deric Muhammad joins us again to speak on black businesses. We all have dealt with bad customer service at some point in our lives. Some in the black community respond to it by saying,,"This is why i don't come to black owned businesses". But those same blacks can have the same bad customer service at a Wal-Mart or Target. Yet they never say,,,"This is why i don't support white owned businesses". We must recognize that line of thinking is wrong and we need to change it.

I agree with you 100%. I love beauty products and I just stumbled across a black owned beauty store in my area. It is an anomaly as most beauty supply stores here are owned by Asians. What is different about this store? It is exceptionally clean, well organized and offers a remarkable rewards program. After unknowingly telling the owner about how impressed I was, she proceeded to tell me that she owns the store and gave me a TON of beauty samples! I tweet about her business and tell my friends (even strangers) where to go for beauty supplies. We need more businesses like hers!!
The white man has always divided us. Anyone who says racism isn't among the black or brown community is deaf, dumb and blind. There should be no excuse to compare ones self to a white person. Self correcting ones racialist mentality will unify the community. Stop letting yourself be manipulated by white capitalists.
Are you kidding me? WTF would you say black vs negro business? It is 2016 and blacks already have enough problems with real racism from white people. They don't need you pitting them against each other. There is no black business and negro business. There is a good business vs bad. If you want to help the black community tell people to up their game. I really hope people aren't buying into that bullshit because you are adding unnecessary fuel to an inferno. Change your language because your statement is misdirected and stupid. You are way too smart and your platform is way to big to say something so stupid. All races have horrible ratchet businesses. I get that you want to increase black owned business. That is great but you are not helping at all from this angle. Best of luck to you.
I don't disagree with everything he's saying, but come on… "you're going to get my plate of rice and beans right, i'm going to keep coming back here until…."
Deric is on point because African-Americans aka Black people are racially hyperscrutinized by bankers and investors when asked to approve funding for business ventures.
So to say "good business" vs. "bad business" is oversimplifying a complex issue where race is very much a factor.
We can take care of ourselves if we spend with our own.
Those who are not Black may not care for this discussion and the facts about reviving a new era of Black Excellence (like Black Wall Streets of the past) to compliment our enormous economic impact (Black Dollars) yet you are here watching, reading, learning and commenting hostily.
Andre Marshall, you couldn't have said it any better. Your comment was right on point. Brother Deric Muhammad differentiated Black and Negro businesses, profoundly. Unfortunately, the commenters who knocked Muhammad's breakdown are the same negroes who'll break their necks to watch every unsavory episode of Empire or Scandal.

That is just not how business works.

I go to caribbean restaurants and they're always out of food or some dishes even when it isn't lunch rush.

Why?
Nope, skip it, nevermind.
