Anthony Browder does a fantastic analysis of these 3 movies, “Precious”, “The Blind Side” and “Monster’s Ball” in this 2 hour presentation. He has done his research and deals with why the Oscars love to award movies that depict African-Americans in a negative light especially when we are reduced to sexual objects and use vulgar language. Why is the dehumanization of African-Americans entertainment? Why does Hollywood like to show images of African-Americans where they can’t take care of their children and have to be saved by others that don’t look like them.

One of the most important things that we have to remember is that “hurt people, hurt”. People who have been hurt in their lives have a tendency to hurt those that they say that they love. This is a presentation where you must see the entire lecture.

Solid E says:

I believe in freedom of speech however I find it amazing how black filmmakers continue to make these kinds of movies. The two films in question do not tell great stories but instead of focusing on the "art" of filmmaking (screenwriting in particular) blacks get caught up in things like how we're viewed in society, awards, celebrity and how much money can we make. Black filmmakers need to focus on the art of screenwriting otherwise this cycle will continue.

In an attempt to restore the race to it's Glory we need to get out of the denial trap We do pimp our children for drugs, haave inappropriate sex with them and abuse them. check the stats. as an educator and consultant i've been privy to many a horror story. even seen kids with anuses ripped and torn and private parts hanging by thin threads of skin Never gonna correct the serious perversions of the soul If we don't have the corage to admit they exist. With all due respect to the host Mr. Browder

Kandis Williams says:

Such a great talk. The subject matter of Preciousnis so and hopeless. The story shows no redemption for Black People as a whole. It glorifies colorism and implies that most Black people are animals (which is why this garbage got an academy award).

thank you for posting this series…i was thinking it was a personal dislike regarding that so called precious movie. felt it was disgusting, sick a blatant attack on the melanated community through media–especially our honorable "big mama" image and her daughters. our people ran to the movies–1 reason; oprah! peace mjrob1914, anthony browder & the bmore area.
