WE USED TO PLAY THIS TO DEATH IN THE EARLY 70 S ,AT LEAST I DID AND ALSO" THIS IS MADNESS" WAS AND IS BAD AND I ALSO HAVE BOTH OF THEM ON CD. THEY MADE YOU SEE YOURSELF AND OTHERS AS THEY HELD A MIRROR UP IN YOUR FACE AND MADE YOU LOOK AT YOURSELF AND ASKED YOU WHY YOU AND ME BEHAVED AS WE DO !! WHAT MAKES THEM NIGGERS ACT LIKE THAT? AW MAN, THE 1ST RAPPERS!!!
My father use to play this album on 8 track I knew every word at 12 years old….

Well all of our ancestors originate from Africa, so technically every human being on this planet is a "nigger".
Was this a huge influence on Gil Scott Heron or was it around the same time?

Ase MA'AT RA – Ase AMEN RA !!!! Salute The Black Poets !!!!
so is this the beginning of rap?
POETRY IS COOL.
The original N.W.A.
I was probably the only white boy in Mississippi to own this album in 1970. I wasn't your average white boy.
Censored for PC audience.
wanna listen to some real shit from the old school telling the truth about Us!
This is very interesting, and a very forward thinking album for its time. Its an important album that people should take notice of, but I don't think this necessarily counts as rap music. If this counts as rap music, then Robert Johnson counts as rock n' roll.
This lp forever changed me
darrelsolomon, care to unpack that?
Totally didn't realise this is where Biggie got Party and Bullshit from!
this was the beginning of hip-hop
Thank you David Bowie for this discovery! And thanks Metemi for the upload. What a powerful revolutionary work, so many influences heard….but speaking of Bowie, in the second track On The Subway, the call out harmony sounds so much like the verses in the song Looking for Satellites on Earthling.
Let's just say, by most accounts, Africa is our origin. There's some confidence in that. We can also say, with some confidence, that we don't absolutely know anything. That said, you're gonna think and do something…
I am so glad I was part of this generation
