Kemetic Legacy Today – Dr Yosef ben-Jochannan Ankh Anniversary Ceremony
Led by Elder High Priest of the Shrine of Ptah, Heru Ankh Ra Semahj Se Ptah, Kemites connected to The Shrine of Ptah pay homage to Dr. Ben at his nursing home in the Bronx, NY. Kemetic Legacy Today hosts Nfr-Ka Ma'at (Anika Daniels-Osaze) and Heru DjedenMa'at Aten-Ra (Jabari Osaze) were pleased to celebrate Dr. Ben with their Kemetic family as they were initiated by the Shrine of Ptah in 1998 and benefited from Dr. Ben's teaching as they attended Cornell University. Dr. Ben taught at Cornell University's Africana Studies and Research Center for many years. Now a glorious ancestor, Dr. Ben made his transition on March 19, 2015. He was 96 years old.

This is a very nice tribute to the Doctor. However found it kinda sad that he stated its been a while since people have visited him in the nursing home (the fact that he is in a nursing home is sad enough). Please forgive my ignorance, in this "way of life/religion", but i wanted to inquire because i hear a growing number of black folks embracing Kemet history and knowledge. But i see vast variations in the "way of life". I wanted to know what is the name of your Kemet book or reference/ your religious text. I would like to have a clearer understanding of the acceptance going on around me. Thx. Peace
I loved Dr. Ben though I didn't have the pleasure of knowing of him until a year before his death. Now, I search for all of his writings and videos and I'm so glad knowledge of him came to me in my lifetime. I read someone's post who said …we must take better care of our elders…If we don't lift them up to glory who will? I agree.
