Good teachings. When my oldest daughter developed an undying thirst for books and reading at age 6, she had me bringing home everything with words in it and when i showed her how to use a dictionary, she took off like a rocket.  She became interested in Astronomy and i bought her a Celestron telescope, we had to call her to dinner to get her away from it, she learned how to adjust everything on that telescope.  Then she became interested in Japanese Anime so, i told her, she might as well learn how to speak Japanese, why did i tell her that, by the time she entered the 8th grade, she could speak, read and write Japanese and even took it further, she now has mastered Madarin and her use of English is better than most people you find in the Senate, she's AWESOME and i love her for it!  

Then, my younger daughter joined in and i had to put two sets of Encyclopedias in their bedroom, they both went crazy, none of their friends had that in their homes, let alone their bedrooms and most of them with either White or East Indian and it was interesting listening to the two of them arguing, it sounded like two politicians going at it over a bill and my oldest set the rules of the debate by telling the younger daughter: "I'll listen to your arguments but, you revert to profanity, you've lost and I'm done with you!"  I taught them when people use profanity, that's their breaking point and anything you tell them after that's worthless, they won't hear you!   I was SURPRISED how she stole that from me because i'd do her mom the same way when we'd go at it, once she'd start with that trash-mouthing, i'd SHUT her completely down, not another word from me, she wouldn't even hear my VOICE, i'd completely ignore her!  My ex would often try to encourage me to step in when my daughters argued and i'd tell her no, let's just listen and let them work it out!  

They grow up quickly and man, do i miss those days!  Whenever my younger daughter would lose a debate, she'd revert to the dictionary to figure out what her sister said, i saw that as a good outlet for her to learn and she became much better at winning debates and getting what she wanted.  My oldest daughter's the middle child and she'd use that awesome vocabulary of hers as a weapon to get her older brother and younger sister to back up off of her, they had NOTHING for her and i told her, you'll never end up in jail for for using that as a weapon and that's a GOOD CHOICE, nobody will ever talk you into doing anything you don't want to do!  I took every teachable moment i could with my children and the only place illiteracy exists with them all, is in the dictionaries they have and i made sure they have plenty of them!  Good video!
