DaMayorOfNewYork says:

George Zimmerman was not acquitted because he was White (Zimmerman was actually Hispanic), but due to the practice of overcharging conducted by many attorneys within the D.A.'s office across America.

The practice is use to entice those who are accused to accept the plea deal handed down by the D.A.'s office, which on many occasions, based on the evidence the office may or may not have is all they could have convicted the accused on.

Zimmerman was first charged with manslaughter, but then that charge was raised to 2nd degree murder.  The D.A's office used a plea deal of manslaughter to entice Zimmerman, but Zimmerman chose to take the case to a jury trial, and the prosecution team was left with using what little evidence they had to convince a jury of 12 that Zimmerman committed 2nd degree murder against Martin.  Had the prosecution team went to trial looking to get a manslaughter conviction, the evidence that was presented in court would have been enough to earn a conviction, but that evidence was not strong enough to earn a 2nd degree conviction.

If anyone remembers the trial in full, the prosecution team attempted to approach the judge 90% into the completion of the trial, with the attempt of being granted the chance to reduce the charge to manslaughter and retry Zimmerman, seeking a lesser conviction.  The judge refused the request.

What is alarming is just how often this request may have been granted by other judges, especially when it came to jury trials of Black men who were bring tried in court.  How many case has there been in the state of Florida alone where midway or even three quarters or more into the trial, most if not all the evidence was presented in court, the prosecutor realizes he or she was going to lose their case, requested a reduction of charges, the request was granted, and the accused was later found guilty and convicted?

And if that was accomplished in the George Zimmerman trial, then when Blacks accused any court of injustice, the response would have been, "What was good for the goose, must now be good for the gander".
