Right on Flash. Hey man I love all that stuff you put out man. I never knew you were white brother. What I want to know is more about your influence where you grew up, etc. etc. Thanks for doing what you did and continue doing man.

Poggi Poggi says:

WALL STREET? are you talking about WALL STREET? or rappers?

Poggi Poggi says:

As those 2 legends are at the root of it, I think FLASH is heaping them into a box that influenced the music of his neighborhood (West Coast) and the History of RAP in general. It would be hard to mention any rappers without them! As Dolemite said. "He was threw with it before they knew what to do with it."

chilltowntv says:

love this video! thanks for posting. (one of the characters in my cartoon, a crazy pimp in Ep 1, is based partially on Dolomite.)

mnlkthms says:

blowfly is from Miami and Dolemite is from ohio Why are they considerd west coast???

Sir Isaac De Nigginsnoots says:

DJflash big up, good work…grew up listening/watching Dolomite and listening Blowfly

Khrystene says:

@ozzdubar Ah yeah it is. It's the roots of it all.

johnnyarpa says:

its mother fuckers like this who fucked up the world selling dope hoes fucked up moms and dads and this is cool think about it now look at the world

210peanutswaye says:

HipHop is dead…shit, the man who said it is dead too. And "we" killed them. 98 was hiphops biggest year and coincidentaly came downloading the same year. It was all downhill from there…the love is still there tho, don't get (that) fucked up.

visionkingdom says:

ALL DIS SHIT IS HIPHOP.HIPHOP LIVES IN EVERYTHING DAMN NEAR.

Aaron Patrick says:

@djflash808 I didn't see this, so excuse my lateness. No I do not. Rap is an industry term. Being an Emcee is what we're talking about. I understand why people confuse the two especially because of the spoken word movement. Both are literary arts though, but the main reason why they're compared is because those words evoke passion and meaning.

Aaron Patrick says:

@arahb1 You clearly do not know what you are talking about. Hip Hop the culture started with one man Cool Herc. The term 'Rap' is an industry term. The culture calls it being an Emcee (Mc). The 4 elements are the; Emcee, Dj, B-boy, and Graffiti artists.

arahb1 says:

@ozzdubar How do you think RAP got its name. R.A.P. is the art of talking shit. ie.. talking about stuff you dont have or wish you have, pimpin hoes, and slinging dope. RAP gave birth to Hip-hop and Hip-hop gave birth to some bullshit with no social commentary.

Aaron Patrick says:

@541Gettoboy Excuse me but you are wrong. You do not understand the origin of poetry and its aesthetics. The art and styles of being a Mc, you could say that has more of a Jazz influence. You can also say origin too! For example, listen to Cab Calloway's Jumpin Jive. You can also hear it in Louis Jordan too! Spoken Word is the offspring of POETRY, this is why people confuse the two.

oatstao says:

@541Gettoboy THE ROOT WORD OF RAP IS RAPOETRY FOOLS
peace to all tru heds
OH AND RHYTHM IS LIFE

Omar Serrano says:

can anyone tell me whats the first song that start at 1:03

iamsukafree says:

hip hop is poetry.hip hop & rap started from these guys.rap and hip hop started in the west.

mandrax drax says:

@ozzdubar i agree…it's the otherway around

Traquan David says:

@nicobeat2 THEY ARE ONE OF THE GROUPS

Aaron Patrick says:

@UniqueDaPoet I disagree. Great Mc's have been compared to poets because Hip Hop artists were not considered musicians. Poetry and its aesthetic qualities has many forms but you cannot say that 16 bars and 17 syllables of a Haiku are from the same root.
