Here's the bottom line. The African slave trade was a crime against humanity, Africans and Islam.
1. Muhammad ended slave raiding and slave trafficking in his day but he had enemies and ambitious men among his followers who slowly began to tear apart the system he set up. They violated everything he taught. (It was Abu Bakr and Umar who seized power from Muhammad's family and began the conquests). So there was slavery in the so-called 'Muslim World' but Islam (the teachings of Muhammad) was against the slave trade.
2. Over time, Muslims were selling goods to the African kingdoms and the African kingdoms were paying with their own people. In most instances, no violence was necessary to obtain those slaves. All they needed to do is bring goods that appealed to the kings of those tribes. The kings would gladly sell their own subjects.
3. The Nubians, the Ethiopians, the Oyo empire (Yoruba), the Kong Empire, the Kingdom of Benin, the Kingdom of Koya, the Kingdom of Khasso, the Kingdom of Kaabu, the Fante Confederacy, the Ashanti Confederacy, and the kingdom of Dahomey, all traded their people for goods.
4. This explains why slavery became "black". Ancient slavery, e.g. under the Roman empire, and the Muslim World would not discriminate: slaves were both white and black In the middle ages, all Western European countries outlawed slavery (of course, Western powers retained countless "civilized" ways to enslave their citizens, but that's another story), whereas the African kingdoms consciously continued in their trade.
5. By blaming an abstract concept like religion you're letting the real culprits off the hook, Let's identify and deal with the actual slavers or slave rings. But to use this issue as a pretense to go after "Islam" completely misses the target because it's teachings were against the slave trade, slave trafficking and slave raiding which is the crime that took place in Africa especially during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Professor Ware did a good job here but his so called opponents here are people who call themselves by titles after Egyptian demonic deities cannot have authentic authority on judging Islam. Slavery has nothing to do with Islam instead it was a societal norm which was eventually gotten rid of by Islamic society so these type of topics being discussed

I have to admit that as a former Muslim, Islam is the faith that made the most sense to me. I always said that if I find holes in Islam and see that it has flaws, I'm gonna leave it alone and I did, because I found flaws and holes big enough for me to drive my truck through. I also said that if I leave Islam I'm not embracing ANY other religion. And I'm not. I'm done with all religions. They are ALL MAN MADE. I'm getting discouraged in my research. We don't know if we're Muslims, Israelites, Christians, black, negros, African Americans, moors…etc geez. Whatever we are we can't even agree as a people on it. This is nerve wrecking to say the least.
People say Islam is the fastest growing religion, what the truth is, is that people of Islamic faith are having larger families and so the growth is by default but people try to say it in a way like it's a spreading enlightenment, it's that slick talk. People relate "narrations" buy mysterious people they know nothing about absolutely nothing they just real of a bunch of names, this guy said that guy said he saw/heard/ so an so, ask them to give you the background to these people with the elaborate names, they will lead you to a bunch of so called scholars again whom you don't know anything about, and as far as quoting Al Quran in English go get you a Yusef Ali translation, all editions from the first to the last & open them up side but side, I give you 15 minutes before you realise with the English you gonna have problems FACTS, English being such an ambiguous language grammar can change the context and entire meaning etc etc
Religion is division and Man-ufactured. Love is the god frequency, you either have it or you don't. I listen to love, I practice love, I preach love.. Anything else is a distraction from the most high god. God did not create religion, he gave us universal laws…Love defeats all. The conversation you all are having is really eye-opening. First, the so-called "Middle East" is indeed IN Africa. There really is no such country or continent called the Middle East. Second, every African society has had immigrants. Large numbers of several other groups of people migrated into several areas of African regions, the so-called Middle East included. When you talk about the enslavement of so-called Africans (that's NOT the name we called ourselves) you have to take into consideration that we're talking NATIONALITY, not religion. Yes, there were Muslims involved with this despicable practice, but there were participants from every other religion on the planet. The common thread isn't religion. The common thread is RACE first, and that race's dupes second. Everywhere Europeans migrated to they did the people there dirty. There is a difference between the original Arabs and the migrants who were accepted into that region. Third, if you do your own independent research you will come to understand that Islam was new ONLY to the paleface Arabs. Islam is thousands of years older than the period when it was revealed to them. It has been repackaged as "new" because the "western man" (Europeans) had no knowledge of it. Fourth, Islam was on the planet. Literally. Do not forget that the so-called African is the original man on the planet. Literally. Al-Kebullan, the continent's oldest name on record, was the best part of the earth and was where our THRONE WAS LOCATED. Our home was the ENTIRE EARTH. When you do your own independent research you will come to understand the idea or the way of life expressed by the Mudar word "Islam" is the same idea or way of life that every single community or settlement or anywhere else where civilization thrived expressed by a word in that region's language. That same idea or way of life finds its origins in ancient Khamit (or Khemet). Prove me wrong and I will accept it.
And one other thing, which to me is the kicker. The word "slavery" didn't even EXIST during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The ideal of European slavery did not EXIST. It wasn't until three hundred years that the Slavic people's enslavement started coming to an end, and THEN it took for the Europeans to get the Moors out of Europe for the kind of enslavement that was inflicted upon some of us to become what we are discussing now. No. THAT kind of slavery did not exist. When you get into the Arabic, the loosely translated word for slave is EMPLOYEE, it's DEBTOR. And when you research, the Prophet was a very successful BUSINESS man with SEVERAL EMPLOYEEs. That's how he met and married his first wife. He took care of her business so well she pursued HIM for marriage. If you're letting your emotions do the thinking for you you will hear words like slavery and "think" OH MY GOD!
