i been havin this book 4 a while now..& yes misinformation & lack of true info is a tragedy really..when u hear of traditional history books speakin of conquest takeover & libraries n cultures being wiped out n there written records distroyed n white washed iz crazy..
As for Christoferens Colon nobody knows anything about him for sure! His genoese roots are nebulous, his entire ancestry is veiled in mistery! I tend to smile whenever I read these history conspiracy theories about his ancestry and identity! Traditionally he's a Genoese! Strange, that the son of a weaver could marry a noble woman and travel the seas being a weaver's son. Next thing you know he's of Jewish ancestry. Another conspiracy says he was a spy at the service of John II of Portugal!
Well, history is brutal! During the 800 years of arab-moorish dominance in the Iberian Peninsula it were the Arabs and the Moors who took slaves from there and quite many! Up to the XVIII centura there were also raids of moorish ships along the coasts of Europe in order to capture slaves as well! That's no justice, after all, but some sort of balance! A dubious balance, I might add! We humans are really our own predators!
Portuguese New-Christians (converted Jews "in disguise") take part on commercial network that allowed them to established commercial relationship in all continents. Many of these New-Christians were royal financiers. This fact, however, didn't protect them completely from the Inquisitions. In fact, it helped to increase contradictions that are typical of the Jewish people and their descendants, such as the Portuguese New-Christians were! The slave traders were mostly New-Christians for sure!
For the Portuguese it was commonplace that Africans sailed to the West for trade! It is tought in schools up to our days! I can't see any "problem" in this!
