A prominent media professor today said that President Obama’s health care advertisements targeted toward blacks was delivered in a “neocolonial” way and further continues the “devolution of the conditions of the black community.”
Dr. Jared Ball, associate professor at Morgan State University and author of “I Mix What I like!”, said that Redding News Review’s exclusive analysis of Obamacare advertisements portraying blacks playing sports, rhythmic music and grown black men being reliant on whites and their mothers for answers as being critical.
“It is extremely important in unearthing what I have tried to describe as these colonial relationships that we have and how they play out in mass media,” Ball said.
Enjoyed the show Mr. Redding I thought the topic was very interesting. But I would like to encourage that the replacement of the word Neo Colonialism be replaced with the system of White Supremacy because unless there is a clear focal point to address these issues then it starts to become confusing which is why I believe that people of color are so easily deceived. Neo Colonialism is a deceptive word that just means White Supremacy. Keep up the good work.
