‘Olmecs’ They Came Before Columbus – Dr Ivan Van Sertima, Part 1
A celebrated classic, They Came Before Columbus, deals with a number of contacts -- both planned and accidental, between Africans and Americans in different historical periods. Evidence for a physical/cultural presence of Africans in Early America is methodically examined.
Dr. Van Sertima reveals to us a compelling, dramatic and superbly detailed documentation of the presence and legacy of black Africans in ancient America.
With his considerable scholarship, Van Sertima examines the facts of navigation and shipbuilding, the sources of latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates, the scores of cultural analogies found nowhere else except in America and Africa, African languages and the transportation of plants, cloth and animals from Africa to the Americas. And from the diaries, letters and journals of the explorers themselves; from Carbon-14 dated sculptures found in the Americas; from the Arabic documents, charts, maps from the recorded tales of the griots to the Kings of Mali; from dated skeletons found as recently as 1975, the author builds his pyramid of evidence.

Outstanding! Look +Xicohtencatl R @ 3:28 into the video listen who the Indigenous Mexican in this footage say who these heads are! And this is probably from the 1970' judging by the clothes. So think about how long ago people have been saying this. It nothing new to some people; but, this might be brand new to some people who have ever heard of the OLMECS.
Did van sertima train as an archaeologist? How is he qualified to to talk about Olmec history? I'd like to know what black american qualified archaeologists think about his theories
Dr. Ivan Van Sertima was a MASTER TEACHER.. Spent years in seclusion studying.. Ur talking behind a CPU.. U go study African history for your life.. And see what u learn..
Rulers have always kept higher knowledge from the entire populace. what books can you provide to back up your statement ? Sertima isn't the only one who was written extensively on this subject. Professor Gunnar Thompson, Frank M. Snowden, Chancellor Williams, Rudolph R Windsor. I've read all the Eurocentric books since High School, and you sound like you're more educated then the Professors. The Head's are dated way before the People of Soteapan, Acayucan
@WhiteDeception There are counter argument. You or any other afrocentric has not debunked it. All you can say is "blackkk olmec, blackkk olmec" you dumb racist.
@Aberamentho2010 Oh but Afrocentrics have embodied racism in its purest form. The only thing big are your over inflated egos that need a poppin. I am the needle.
@Aberamentho2010 True I am not. So does that make you? Hell no. Your logic is poor on that assertion alone. But I can tell you, that I am more knowledgeable about this than you, Seti, Van Sertima, Winters and the whole lot of ya.
The only thing that you have made clear at this point, is that you are NOT an authority on this subject. Not even close. So please, if you can, leave me alone & find some else to engage. -thanks & shalom
Blacks who fall for the Olmec Black thing is a racist concept and a lot, I mean a lot of Blacks believe in this. And a lot become upset and defend those beliefs even though the counter arguments have effectively shown those beliefs to be wrong. It's a superior/inferior thing .Like how Whites think they were the Kennewick. If Natives closely resemble both Kennewick and Olmec, then both sides lose. Simple as that. Background images on my channel alone prove my point.
@Aberamentho2010 ; Well, in short, claiming the Yamassee, Washitaw or Olmecs were Black, which they were not, says that the Natives needed outside help because they couldn't do it themselves, especially claiming the Olmec as an MesoAmerican first known major civilization. It is pure racism.
@Aberamentho2010 ; You are of pure opinion and folks like you are the true, genuine racist of today. Olmec clearly represent Amerinds as do the Kennewick. The images we have easily disprove your racist claims while laughing about it.
There's pyramids all over this planet!!! So it makes total sense!!!
van sertima was bullshit trying to claim that is not African
Van Sertima was a Great Scholar. We love him for telling the truth about African People.
this is nothing but, pure bullshit
