Watts Prophets – Wake Up [Ala] 1971 Black Poetry 45
Watts Prophets - Wake Up
ALA records # A-1971-45. Released in 1971.
Rare ghetto spoken word / segregation black poetry 45 with the message from Watts Prophets. This track was planned for their revolutionary poetry album "Rappin' Black In A White World" (as 45 label says), but i didn't find it in the track list of this album. So probably it was released only on this single, as a b-side to Watts Prophets - Pain 7''. Vinyl rip from musicdawn records collection.
"Watts Prophets Wake Up" lyrics excerpt:
South Central Los Angeles is the holocaust of flame and smoke.
As proud black warriors all came for.
To be claimed our destiny and restore our hope.
And to make everyone aware that the rebel of riots still smoking in spots...
Like New-York and Harlem, Chicago and Watts.
.... Tick Tack... Tick Tack...
What color is black?
