How developed would sub Saharan Africa be today without colonialism?

Ok we can all agree that colonialism was bad for Africans in various ways. But at the same time it was through colonialism that Africans were introduce to things from Europeans that they lacked. Like writing, medical advancements and various technologies. Other than those Africans who used Arabic writing no sub Saharan Africans had developed a writing system that allowed them to leave written records of events in their history. The Ashanti and Yoruba people left no written records for example. So without writing how would Africans have developed in the 20th century? Without European technologies when would Africans have had access to things like electricity, automobiles etc. Also, without colonial borders what types of borders would Africans have formed themselves? Would there have been over a 100 different countries on the continent today?

… what I don't understand is why would a ppl not want to make business trades THEN but dominate and control ?? were Africans not giving enough ?was the language barrier so different ,comprehension unattainable to build ??  was the portuguess so disperate of commodity ?? hell was the world desperate for commodity ?? did the idea of slavery give final peace to other nation without having to torture each other for survival ?? .. I mean what the hell would make ppl so animalistic ? for what ??
