Prof. James Small of “Hidden Colors 2” discussed “African Spirituality: Awakening The God Within” on “The Michael Imhotep Show”, Feb. 5th, 2015. He gave a deeper understanding into what African Spirituality is and how it differs from Religion. We go into some information about the Africans known as Moors and who the Treaty of Peace and Friendship of 1786 was really with. Prof. Small helped to clear up some misconceptions from a historical perspective. More discussions like this are to come. Visit www.AfricanHistoryNetwork.com.

Prof. Small taught for nearly twenty years at the City University of New York, including 15 years at the City College of New York’s Black Studies Department, thirteen of those years also serving as an administrator and two years at New York City Technical College. Prof. Small has taught courses on Malcolm X, Traditional African Religion (Prof. Small is a priest in the Yoruba religion), Pan Africanism, Crime in the Urban Community, Urban Crisis and Issues, and African Folklore.

Prof. James Small is a Babalorisha, Priest of Oya, in the Ifa Orisha tradition of the Yoruba people of Nigeria and has also apprenticed in the Akan spiritual tradition of Ghana and the Voodou tradition of Haiti. His involvement with the Yoruba tradition began in 1967. He also started training in the Voodou tradition in 1969.
