The unruliness of many black women in the crowd where Donahue had to constantly quiet them down in order for others to speak is EXACTLY what black men were dealing with back then….and it's even worse now. The self-discipline to change that type of behavior is what Mrs. Ali was talking about in her books but they wouldn't listen. Almost thirty years later, here we are witnessing the negative results of them attacking the messenger instead of getting….THE MESSAGE!

Wise Nubian says:

fact we got the book because its on point

Melquan Green says:

I'm in love with Ms Ali…

Steve Jhonson says:

These black bitches today love reality tv and you can't tell them nothing and they have bad attitudes …she is on point and they are worse now than in the 90 which mean it was a systematically trap

evansdct says:

This sister is on point with the sisters!

Raven Walker-Ellis says:

Why are women still getting pregnant by men who don't even consider good friends, let alone as future wives? If a man does not love and respect the woman he impregnates, in most cases, he will not love the child that comes out of her.

Ray W says:

love & respect

The Reel Dill says:

Everything in that book, 25 years later is happening today she saw it then and it's happening now

AJ Muzik says:

5:445:52 Very telling.  This man was on point and looking at the issue from a sociological standpoint that dealt with the economy and class, and Shahrazad Ali just dimissed what he said as white psychology.  SMH

cooleyhigh says:

Going on Amazon.com to buy this book.  Sister had some strong points and true realities.  She is right when she said "there are many books that praise the Black Woman"  where is Steve Harvey's punk ass…

ley anu says:

THE 90'S WAS RIPE FOR ADVANCMENT THESE MEAN SPIRITED WOMEN RAISED THESE DREAD LOCK MEN WHO TURNED ON THEM..AND USED HER THEN WALKED OFF WITH OUT HAVING DONE A DAM THING TO SHOW ANY RESPECT…

Jameela Aridge says:

OH MY GOD. THIS IS HAPPENING. SHE WAS BEFORE HER TIME. BUT I AGREE WITH HER ABOUT THE AFRICAN AMERICAN, BLACK HOMES IN AMERICAN.

StylistecS says:

3:043:18…she dropped a fuckin gem. And what she said was real and it upset the black women in the audience. And that is exactly what has happened to this day and it's getting worse.

kwallah sincere says:

I love Shahrazad Ali

Ms Midwest Invasion says:

Let's be clear:  If a man chooses to abandon his family, that's a CHOICE.

Men in general need to grow up and stop giving in to every lustful whim that crosses their minds.  Stop getting locked up for stupid childish shit.  Stop the drinking and domestic violence.  Stop expecting your wife to stay home and raise your kids while you go out and behave like a 15-year-old with "your boys".  That's not how 'family' works.

If you want to fuck lots of women and party 24/7, fine.  But don't enter a committed relationship and expect that lifestyle to continue.

The idea that a woman's nagging is responsible for all of society's ills is laughable at best.

jumz82 says:

Shahrazad Ali Is the truth!
3:355:50 looool this timid ass high yellow so-called talented 10th nervous fool with his European intellectual thought based bullshit, he must not have read the book! plenty of solutions! the book is a guide for African-American men on how to deal with their dysfunctional Women!  Mama Ali said plain & simple we're not dealing with that Euro-babel! there are plenty of books on such subjects! we're dealing with chicken headed black women!

Lion Entity says:

In a nutshell — as they say in english, a man can either uplift or destroy a woman, and a woman can either uplift or destroy a man. When one is not stable within themselves, imbalanced, violent, does things without being conscient of oneself, that person creates hell for oneself and for the other. And it's much easier to destroy than to build and that's why this whole situation is a very sensitive one. Psychological damage is far worse than mere physical damage, and it's not easy to blame the abuser when they themselves have been abused. Just understanding this, without making any conclusions or judgements about men or women, will help ease this difficult situation, and bring more understanding to one's own self and to the other…which is needed more than anything else. Each one, black man and black woman, should work on understanding oneself and then understanding the other. Only then could there be any possibility of a true solution, a constructive one, a peaceful one. They should not get caught up in anger, frustration, sadness, misery, and it doesn't help when you drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes or do some kind of drug and don't take care of your physical and mental health. Many many things are connected to this issue which could be dealt with so much easier.
Be careful what you eat, what you drink, what you take in to your heart and your mind, what kind of people you hang out with, what kind of movies you watch, books you read, places you go to, be very careful and don't underestimate the power of subtle things…or else you will only be accidental. Either accidentally a good healthy person, or accidentally a bad nasty person. Both are not good. One should CONSCIOUSLY lead one's life, only then could one know how to truly build oneself and lead out of a life of destruction and misery.

howard33072 says:

These black bitches will do anything to protect their hustle. And I do mean anything.

Cornelius Jordan says:

These people and some of you commenters are complicating the issue. 1) It was a book created as a slap in the face for moorish women to wake up and become conscious about how they treat their moorish men. 2) Of course she did a study on a sector or small population or moorish people (she's only 1 person) general psychiatrist and statisticians do that all the time. 3) With most of the moorish people in poverty she is revealing the CAUSES. We have become too sensitive and escapist about our issues

Amethyst McMillian says:

That is true. Black women sit back and do nothing when black men are constantly being degraded, dehumanized, and railroaded. Black men have always been accountable, but it is time for black women to be held accountable which many of them will not own up to it. I am all for Shahrazad Ali's philosophies.

MissShey says:

i wish talk shows were still like this

P Htwr says:

Well your option is to keep drinking the white man koolaid!

Chaz ApolloJohnson says:

House nigga Jesse Lee Peterson

suthrngrwn74 says:

Yes she was.

Chris Norris says:

Time is up for that! haha that's true.

Jason says:

Sister Ali was way ahead of her time.

Jason says:

Black women can't stand to be wrong. Sister Ali got to 'em.
