At least he was named appropriately. Dick was a dick and his death is a blessing.

Didn't follow him much, but knew Dick was influential to comedians Redd Foxx and Richard Pryor.

happy cats says:

I  don't know why, black people think cracker is offensive to whites, its not.  Just a reminder of who cracked the whip and  who got whipped 🙂

Sphagnum P. I. says:

Dick (well named) was a top-ranked negro in his day. Lawdy, Lawdy!
Ended his career blocking traffic on Route 123 in Virginia; making a statement about CIA or UFOs or something.

Surfview says:

Dick Gregory, like Prince and Merle Haggard, was outspoken about Chemtrails. He pointed out that the sulfuric acid coming down from chemtrails mixes with the manganese coming through the pores of urban citizens who have drunk malt liquor that has manganese in it. The combination causes anger and irritability, often resulting in violence. Prince talked about the same thing. Both are gone now. A bacterial urinary tract infection is what put him into the hospital. Hmmmm? And now a relative blames heart issues on his civil rights fasting. What a sell-out!

Derrick Wilson says:

I was listening to a program someone suggested I tune into on TVone this morning and, of course, it was a semi memorial for the passing of Brother Dick Gregory, sharing his thoughts on many subjects we all are familiar with. He gave the show's host his opinion on the infamous Atlanta Murders, the assassination of the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr., and the Monica Lewinsky scandal in the 90s. Whether many of us will say his facts were accurate or not, Dick always came up with a set of facts concerning certain incidents that would make one look 'outside the box'. He explained in detail how Martin Luther King couldn't have been murdered by James Earl Ray but, instead, was murdered by a Memphis police officer, going on to say how the only witness was himself murdered after revealing the killer's true identity. Although I disagreed with some of what this Giant of a Warrior for human rights shared with us through the years, his heart and spirit was genuine and he put his life on the line for many years to both make us aware and educate us about the many evils in this society facing Black people and Americans in general. We're also talking about a man who began a successful career as a comedian and, no doubt, could've went a lot further into the entertainment industry had he did 'the dance' so many of our black entertainers do to become rich and famous. All of this he pushed aside to fight for the freedom, justice and equality we black people have been denied for centuries in the United States. I truly pray that he rests in eternal peace and also hope his wife and family finds peace and joy in remembrance of such and extraordinary human being.
