On February 19th,Your Black World reporter Doshon Farad spoke with legendary historian Dr. Leonard Jeffries in Newark, N.J. Dr. Jeffries came to national attention in 1991 when he delivered a controversial lecture in Albany,N.Y. at the State Black Arts and Cultural Festival. At the time he served as the chair of the Black Studies department. His lecture would eventually lead to him being relieved from his post and fired from the college. After a long law suit against the college, he was reinstated as a professor but not as head of his department. Dr. Jeffries retired last spring but still lectures across the country and the World.
