Kimani the Incredible says:

Black spending collectively is worth billions but not individuals

Shop With Leslie says:

I agree with the importance of political activism and the appropriate and fair use of taxes! One of the best forms of political activism is to vote in my opinion. Another is to watch how tax dollars are being spent, speaking out and voting accordingly. The ball has been dropped on that one (a fact) with such a dismal proportion of the population voting. So, as you say, it must be a collective effort. Yet, I believe strongly in supporting and building black businesses. I shop black owned all of the time. I find I am less interested in other goods, and do not spend time out at the mall spending (and wasting) money. Supporting black owned IS also a way to for collective economic advancement, and if black businesses can get government support and subsidies as other have to build their businesses that's great! Also, what African American public figure said you don't need government? I think doing for yourself is critical, and not at odds with ensuring that government serves you.

paradox 7 says:

I like this talk of black economics when we can't even get together to create a black FAMILY !

paradox 7 says:

What is being discussed here is the disparity between poor blacks , the vast majority of the community versus the few blacks afforded some means to wealth thru celebrity or sports or the odd degree .Wealth creates wealth , you can work hard all your life and still be poor , the majority of wealth in the white community is inherited generationally , they are spending their great great grandfather's money gotten thru slavery or , like the kennedys , who made money bootlegging liquor during prohibition .the myth of black buisness ignores the fact they are by and large small mom and pop concerns where they may break even and not employ anyone other than friends and family .The children ordinarily will be sent to college to work for white dominated corporate America , so whatever wealth is generated will not be carried forward to the next generation as whites and other people's genreally do .the average black family , if indeed there is a family , simply gets by and has no capital to invest in anything, they are living day to day paycheck to paycheck. However , the argument of government as the solution is also not really the solution either , we have had black congressmen since reconstruction, and a black president for eight years ! What more politics do you want ? It is as crazy as the self help solution , neither address the only way to achieve true citizenship …Malcolm told you , the ballot or the bullet .there are NO people who have ever been oppressed that achieved true liberty thru praying marching or setting up a buisness because all of these things can be negated by a system of white oppression .the only blacks that become political are already indocrinated by the whites who ANOINT them .nobody will achieve any office with any power to make any meaningful.change .I'm not a black Muslim , but they speak truth to say the only solution is the total separation of the black race from our former Masters .with the intent to achieve total independence by whatever force is necessary .

Robin Massengale says:

This is an awesome segment! It is amazing how one takes kindness and commitment as weakness, but, I learned long ago, you can't keep silent in the face of lies! You did that thing!

ClockCash Coley says:

Professor Ball is the TRUTH. He traveled 7 hours a week to teach the importance of training yourself to reach beyond the text/beyond the grade/beyond simply accepting what you read. He always asked: Why do you know what you know? – Frostburg 05.

Angela Ray says:

I guarantee the best Black Leaders are murdered.

Tyrone Thomas says:

This brother hit the nail on the head with understanding the need for us to aquire control over the production of products and services that we spend our money on. the other significant point is his statement "if you want to end poverty …simply give poor people money". The next step after understanding what needs to be done is to put a plan of action into effect to accomplish the goal. I have that solution/plan and its common sense 101 that without a doubt will work….just need a little help with a few intelligent talented team members. (229) 305-2501

School in KILLEEN TEXAS said that she was tired of n…… wearing these expensive tennis shoes. I went to a Winter Graduation at Shoemaker High School in Killeen, TEXAS and I did not see one black person on the school board.

Last night for epic -the crayola illustration just what we needed a visual. I will be sharing this episode with everyone and have asked them to like it and pay it forward

M worr says:

I have long stopped viewing to Boyce. He is a typical Black Conservative that "Free Markets" is the answer to Black social problems. As you have said his Booker T – "do-for-self" ideology is problematic and LIMITED in intervening on the social problems of Urban Afro American life.

Conservatives like Boyce "mean well" but they often have Blind Spots of Perceptions; they want to dismiss Systems and Structures in favour of "Protestant Work Ethic" and "Rugged Individualism", strategies that have Historically work for White but Not Black folk. Such strategies Ignore centuries of Built-in White Privilege.

mcgeeg0881 says:

The vast majority of Boyce Watkin’s audience are black women. Not that this is a shot towards black women, but just like with the black church, Boyce is just simpin for profit.

theodore braden says:

Leah Boggs says:

Awesome that Jared Ball was on the show. Also, thank you for breaking down your former relationship with Boyce Watkins. I was wondering what happened. I admit that Watkins had me fooled but after seeing this video and a video Jared Ball recently shared/posted done by Steven Nur Ahmed about Watkins, I now see him in a totally different light. Thanks again!

Leo Cleo says:

Glad to have found this channel! Was beginning to feel like an alien in a land of pimps, hustlers & group-think zombies (which unfortunately, the unCONscious community has fast become). It's almost as if there's a giant elephant in the room, nobody wants to acknowledge called Capitalism. We're frenziedly shucking & jiving around it, below it & every which way apart from Thru the damn thing – which is to confront & resist it. Thought it was just me that was growing tired & increasingly uncomfortable with this rhetoric of ignoring blk poverty & blaming the poor for being poor. Why a sudden proliferation of this disingenuous narrative?? And don't even get me started on the sorry state of this latest generation of what I can only call a pseudo liberation movement. Self appointed pimp/hustler 'leaders' at its helm, sounding like Creflo Dollar preachers of 'liberation' cults. I was on the verge of giving up & leaving it all alone…then I found this channel! A comparable oasis in a desert of personality cultism & 'bizniz' rackets, that ultimately line pockets of individual, masquerading as community empowerment. THANK YOU (for restoring my hope that not ALL of the CONscious community has become a multi level marketing scheme!)

Jasmine Bastanchury says:

Yvette I LOVE THIS SHOW! I have to say it's never really been about race or gender to me it boils down to rich vs poor it's just a matter of time before the white people in this country are as poor or poorer than the minorities. Why do they think white people are dying younger and committing suicide and doing Drugs in mass as to be commented on CNN! Because the RICH have made it MISERABLE for the poor. Of course we are hardy people stretching a dollar is just Tuesday problems for us this is DOOMSDAY for them. First they came for the Jews…

Vermithrax 77 says:

YES YES YES! That's what I was waiting to hear. "If you don't understand politics then you don't understand power" Voting is the very least you can do and requires the least amount of effort. We have to make demands and threaten politicians and give ultimatums and show up to town halls meetings You got be a pest until the "squeaky wheel gets some oil."
