Biko89 Housebuyer says:

I had the honor to meet Kwame Ture before he transitioned. He was an intellectual giant. Black Power!!

Makheru Bradley says:

For the historical record: "In 1954, novelist and intellectual Richard Wright published Black Power, a provocative book in which Wright offered his reflections on his travels to the Gold Coast as it was in the process of becoming the independent nation of Ghana. The term "Black Power" that Wright used to signify the possibilities of freedom and development for Africans, as well as Pan-African cultural connections, would become a familiar notion to people of African descent around the world, who identified with its potent message for liberation and cultural revitalization. In so doing, Wright opened a new chapter in the long history of political and intellectual dialogue across the African Diaspora-one that revealed both the convergences and ruptures between people of African descent on the continent and in Diaspora.” https://www.harpercollins.com/9780061449451/black-power/

Makheru Bradley says:

Asante Sister Afrikan Esq for this focus on our Esteemed Ancestor Kwame Ture, who inspired me, more than anyone else, to become invovled in our struggle.

A couple of minor corrections. Kwame did not coin the 1960s version of the concept of Black Power. It was more of a SNCC idea. James Forman in “The Making of Black Revolutionaries” gives the credit to Mukasa Dada (Willie Ricks). Kwame gives his explanation here:

Secondly, we know exactly why Kwame went to Guinea and what he was doing there. He details this in Chapter XXVII of his book: “Ready for Revolution: The Life and Struggles of Stokely Carmichael (Kwame Ture).” He also discusses this in “Stokley Speaks,” in the speech titled “Pan-Africanism.” I had the privilege of being in the gymnasium at Morehouse College, March 1970, when Kwame delivered this speech. I remember it like it was yesterday. The original title was “Pan-Africanism: The Highest Stage of Black Power.” He said “at the invitation of the president of Guinea, Mr. Ahmed Sekou Toure, I went to study under the man I consider to be the most brilliant in the world today–Osagyefo, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah." Kwame’s ultimate objective was to return Nkrumah to power in Ghana, via a guerrilla war, based on Nkrumah's, “Handbook of Revolutionary Warfare.”

Finally, although there were many coup attempts against President Toure, he was never overthrown. Guinea had a peoples militia which defended the country, along with the army, most notably during the November 1970 invasion of Guinea by Portugal, which they repulsed.

Kflash3782 says:

Our empowerment is so starved for critical thinking! Brainstorming sessions are now social media outlets feeding off of emotions and fear. One of the reasons I view your channel is because you bring critical thinking and reasoning skills to the discussion. Your topics are often important to me, and your thoughts give me added points of view which usually support my stance or opinion. And you're fine – I love my sisters!
The statement by Kwame Ture (SC) at 14 minutes in the classroom was powerful, '…leaving out the oppressor'

Jamaal Brewer says:

Kwame is a true example of evolving. Went from integrating (SNCC), to Black Nationalism (Black Panthers), to Pan-Africa (AAPRP). One of his long time partners Bob Brown was trying to get a film out on him a few years ago and we talked about ways to make it happen. Hopefully it can reach the masses so people can see fruit of his efforts. When I watched clips of Kwame Ture marching with Dr. King, I have said that's the only time I ever seen King nervous because Stokley (what he was called at the time) wasn't playing around. Ture and Martin Delany are two of the most underrated leaders in our history in my opinion. It's up to us to spread the knowledge of their works.

Anthony Mcphail says:

Happy afrikan liberation day family an i agree brotha kwame toure was a great pan africanist perhaps even the most influential after malcolm x death loved his book black power the politics of liberation 1967

fard ali says:

Teach in the spirit of Kwame Ture. Let self-defense. Learn to grow (urban farmer) organic vegetable gardens.
