Kwame Ture’s last fire side chat from the Meeca-Howard Univ part 1
To my Howard family and African family of strugglers worldwide. I had the honor of being selected by my student peers as a servant leader at Howard University in the late 1990's. It was during this time I built lifelong relationships with members of the All African People's Revolutionary Party (AAPRP), specifically Bob Brown, Banbose Shango, the late Dr. Mary Rhodes Hoover, Kamau Benjamin, Rafiki Morris and Dr. John Trimble It was through our work (Howard University Student Association) with the AAPRP that we were able to secure brother Kwame for what became his last fire side chat from his alma mater February 17, 1998, seven months before he transitioned this life. That day had a profound effect on me, I haven't been the same since. We successfully lobbied our university a year later to award Brother Kwame an honorary degree posthumously, his second one the first coming from Shaw University in the early 70's. Over the years I've received requests for videos and DVD's of that program. I've finally decided to upload this to Youtube for the world to see since I don't have video production capabilities. A few thanks. First, to Baba Damani, known to generations of Howard students as Dean Bill Keene, for keeping the press on for me to get this out. To brother Bob Brown of the AAPRP for helping me construct my introduction of brother Kwame, to DC based attorney Donald Temple for securing Kwame's plane ticket and finally to my mother Jacqueline, a graduate of Clark College 1969, for first exposing me to her experiences with Stokely Carmichael and the movement while a student at Clark in the late 60's. So much from that night, I still find myself saying, "when you work for the people, the people will never forsake you." There is another video after this one I must upload, this is part 1. Love this video- how can a country that created slavery, made slaves, killed people of the same statue but different in nature, yet speak on democracy? They can't which is why this country will be in turmoil until the creator comes. There will be no PEACE!
