The Story of Marcus Garvey A Documentary
Marcus Mosiah Garvey, Jr., ONH (17 August 1887 – 10 June 1940), was a Jamaican political leader, publisher, journalist, entrepreneur, and orator who was a proponent of the Pan-Africanism movement, to which end he founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA-ACL). He also founded the Black Star Line, a shipping and passenger line which promoted the return of the African diaspora to their ancestral lands.
Prior to the 20th century, leaders such as Prince Hall, Martin Delany, Edward Wilmot Blyden, and Henry Highland Garnet advocated the involvement of the African diaspora in African affairs. Garvey was unique in advancing a Pan-African philosophy to inspire a global mass movement and economic empowerment focusing on Africa known as Garveyism. Promoted by the UNIA as a movement of African Redemption, Garveyism would eventually inspire others, ranging from the Nation of Islam to the Rastafari movement (some sects of which proclaim Garvey as a prophet).
Garveyism intended persons of African ancestry in the diaspora to "redeem" the nations of Africa and for the European colonial powers to leave the continent. His essential ideas about Africa were stated in an editorial in the Negro World entitled "African Fundamentalism", where he wrote: "Our union must know no clime, boundary, or nationality… to let us hold together under all climes and in every country…"

It took his own people to fail Garvey. As black people all over the world black people are too sentimental, too partisan and ready to push one another under the bus. History repeats itself too many times. I wonder how much, Edgar Hoover paid the black informants and the full time black agent "800". I wonder what his children have become, because today, black people are still falling like flies. We are content to living under others authority as long as they don't look like us and we are able to eat ourselves to death, drive nice cars, be assimilated and equal to the colonizers.

I'm speechless. This was educational for me and sad all at once. I thank Mr. Garvey for trying to make us free and giving us a sense of pride. Hoover was the STONE DEVIL!
Sad how through history we didn’t close ranks. But we openly criticized each other in the view of the enemy which aided in the damaged of the black community.
To every cause there is an affect, so I wish ignorant Black folks would stop being so ignorant about Blacks turning on Blacks, knowing damn well under those conditions and environmental factors not to mention the heinous and evil nature of the white people controlling our every move and thought. Beating our children was one of the learned behaviors we learned from them and that still exists today. Is our parents stupid or are they carrying out one of the learned behaviors taught through slavery? They made them turn on their own family, so wake up and learn history in order for us to get to the solution that's going to take some time and not words of condemnation. If you want to condemn someone, condemn those evil people with their heinous nature who enslaved us.
